Chief Minister Reviews Gadag Drought, Hears Farmers’ Demands

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar visited farms in Gadag district to see how little rain had damaged crops.

He looked at sunflower, maize, cotton, groundnut and chilli fields.

Farmers told him that the drought had caused major losses.

They asked the government to declare six more taluks as drought-hit.

The Chief Minister said officials would study more areas before making a decision.

He also met agricultural workers who wanted more work through the VB-G RAM G scheme.

The workers said government support, including rice, financial assistance and free electricity, had helped their families.

Shivakumar later met officials to review the drought situation.
