SC Pushes for Special Courts to Strengthen Judicial System
The Supreme Court of India said that setting up more trial courts will make the judicial system stronger.
This way, people accused of crimes won't have to come to the top court for things like bail or faster hearings.
The court is looking into a case about a man named Md Heydaitullah, who is accused of spreading ISIS ideas online.
The court asked the government to update them on setting up a special court for this case by February 10.
The man was arrested in 2022 for allegedly spreading hate against the government and Hindus on social media.
The court said that because he is educated and knew about ISIS's violent activities, he cannot be granted bail easily.
The case involves 125 witnesses and is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Supreme Court emphasizes setting up additional trial courts to strengthen the judicial system and reduce the burden on the apex court.
Court asks the Centre and Delhi government to provide an update on the establishment of a special court for an ISIS-related case by February 10.
The case involves Md Heydaitullah, accused of spreading ISIS ideology and radicalizing youths through cyberspace.
Delhi High Court denied bail to Heydaitullah, citing his active role in promoting jihad and his awareness of ISIS's terrorist activities.
The prosecution alleges that Heydaitullah disseminated ISIS ideology, spread hate against the government, and transferred funds for terrorist activities.
