US Warns of Strikes as Economic Pressure on Iran Escalates

The United States warned Iran that it might use military force if Iran takes what Washington considers a reckless action.

Pete Hegseth said no decision had been made to stop possible strikes.

He said US forces could act around Iran or the Strait of Hormuz.

The strait is important because ships carrying oil pass through it.

Hegseth claimed the United States controls the waterway and can keep commercial ships moving.

He also said earlier US operations weakened some of Iran’s military systems.

At the same time, the United States is increasing economic pressure on Iran.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said a new effort would target Iran’s financial links and sources of revenue.
