BMC to hold ward reservation lottery on Nov 11 for upcoming polls
The Mumbai city government, called the BMC, is going to pick which areas, or wards, will be set aside for certain groups of people.
They will do this using a lottery on November 11.
This lottery is to make sure that women, and people from groups like the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes get a fair chance to be represented.
After the lottery, they will show a list of these special wards on November 14.
People can then tell the BMC if they have any ideas or problems with the list until November 20.
Once they consider everyone's feedback, the final list will be announced.
This is all happening because an election for the city council is coming up soon.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will hold a lottery on November 11 to determine ward reservations for upcoming civic polls.
The lottery aims to decide reservations for Scheduled Castes (women), Scheduled Tribes (women), Other Backward Classes (general and women), and women in the general category.
The lottery will take place at the Bal Gandharva Rangmandir auditorium in Bandra (West).
A draft reservation list will be published on November 14, with objections and suggestions accepted until 3 PM on November 20.
Mumbai has 227 civic wards, and elections are expected to be announced soon.
