Assam Political Alliances Face Tensions
In Assam, India, there are some disagreements among political parties about who will run in the upcoming elections.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) decided to run alone in seven areas because they felt ignored by the Congress party, which did not respond to their requests for seats.
Other parties in the Morcha, like Raijor Dal and Assam Jatiya Parishad, also have doubts about working together.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said that the seat-sharing with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will be smooth, but some AGP workers are unhappy and want a specific seat for their party.
Sarma also made some serious allegations against Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, saying he has links with Pakistan.
The political situation is getting tense as parties prepare for the elections, which might happen before the Bihu festival.
CPI decides to contest Assam Assembly elections independently in seven seats due to lack of response from Congress on seat-sharing.
AGP workers demand the Khumtai constituency for their party, causing tension within the BJP-AGP alliance.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asserts that seat-sharing with AGP will be smooth but acknowledges natural discussions among aspirants.
Sarma alleges that Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi has links with Pakistan and dares him to take legal action if the claims are false.
Sarma hints at the possibility of Assembly elections being held before Bihu, suggesting the state should be prepared for an early poll announcement.
