Rupee Weakens for Third Day Amid Oil, Equity Concerns
The Indian rupee, which is the money used in India, went down in value for the third day in a row compared to the US dollar.
It ended up costing a little bit more to buy a dollar.
This happened because of a few things: the price of oil went up, and the stock market in India went down.
Also, there's still some uncertainty about whether India and the US will make a trade deal, which is affecting how people are buying and selling the rupee.
One trader expects the rupee to weaken further until the trade deal is finalized.
The rupee weakened for the third consecutive session.
It closed at 86.16 against the US dollar, a decrease of 4 paise.
Rising global crude oil prices and declining domestic equity markets contributed to the rupee's weakness.
Uncertainty surrounding the India-US trade pact also put downward pressure on the rupee.
The dollar index was down, while Brent crude oil prices rose.
