SEMICON India 2026 Spotlights India’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Ambitions

Semiconductors are tiny parts that help electronic devices compute, remember and sense information.

They are made by turning purified sand into thin silicon wafers.

Phones, cars, hospitals, banks and satellites all depend on chips.

SEMICON India 2026 will bring together chip companies, officials and technology experts.

More than 500 companies from over 20 countries are expected to attend.

India wants to make more chips at home instead of relying mainly on a few countries.

Its India Semiconductor Mission is supporting factories, research and chip-design projects.

Tata Electronics and Micron Technology are building manufacturing facilities in India.

The event will highlight whether India can expand beyond assembling and packaging chips into more advanced parts of the industry.
