CRPF Set to Take Over 21 Army Camps in Jammu
The CRPF may soon take over security duties at 21 locations in Udhampur and Kathua.
These duties are currently being carried out by the Army.
The locations are described as very sensitive areas.
The CRPF is still deciding how many personnel will be needed.
Nine special CoBRA teams are planned for deployment.
Nine more teams will train for possible future operations.
The change is part of a larger plan to organize security forces differently in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Rashtriya Rifles will be reduced in some areas, but they will not leave the region completely.
The CRPF is set to assume counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism duties from the Army in parts of Udhampur and Kathua.
Deployment is planned across 21 locations described as hyper-sensitive and prioritized under an existing plan.
Nine teams of the CRPF’s specialized CoBRA unit are expected to remain deployed in the area.
Another nine CoBRA teams will undergo training, with their deployment determined by operational requirements.
The move is part of wider plans to restructure security-force deployments and gradually reduce some Rashtriya Rifles deployments in Jammu and Kashmir.
