Iran-Linked Hackers Shut Down UK Power Plant Four Days

Hackers believed to be linked to Iran reportedly used a cyberattack to stop a small British power plant from working.

The plant was offline for four days.

It was not large enough to affect electricity for the country.

British officials said the wider energy system remained safe.

The plant was not named because of security concerns.

The attack was reported to have happened in July, although another report called it last month.

Around the same time, water systems in several US states were also targeted.

The reports do not prove that Iran carried out every related attack or explain the attackers’ exact motive.
