India Clarifies No Halt on Clean Energy Funding
India's clean energy ministry said it didn't stop funding for clean energy.
They asked banks to be careful when giving money for new solar panel factories because there are too many panels and not enough buyers.
Some people were worried this would stop all funding, but the ministry said that's not true.
They want to support solar panel making but also want to be smart about it.
Some companies are worried because they make solar panels to sell to other countries, but those countries are making it harder to sell to them.
The ministry says they will still help solar panel makers with rules and buildings.
India has already made a lot of progress in using clean energy, and they want to keep doing better.
India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy clarified it did not halt new financing for the clean energy sector.
The ministry advised financial institutions to adopt a cautious approach due to oversupply risks in solar module capacity.
Solar manufacturers expressed concerns that the advisory could disrupt financing and projects.
India's module capacity is projected to increase to 200 GW, with cell output quadrupling to 100 GW.
The ministry remains committed to supporting solar manufacturing through policy and infrastructure, aiming to make India self-reliant in solar PV manufacturing.
