Indian Electronics Industry Plans 16 Products for Domestic Manufacturing
The Indian electronics industry has listed 16 products that they plan to make in India by 2026.
This is to reduce the need to import these products from other countries, especially China.
The industry includes big companies like Tata Electronics and Foxconn.
They aim to create many new jobs and invest a lot of money.
The government also wants to make sure these products are of high quality and good for the environment.
The plan is to first make these products for use in India, but later, they might also be sold to other countries.
This is similar to how India now makes most of the smartphones sold in the country, and even exports them.
Indian electronics industry identifies 16 products for domestic manufacturing by 2026, including 11 intermediate and 5 finished products.
Major companies like Tata Electronics, Foxconn, and Apple are involved in the initiative.
The plan aims to create 141,000 skilled jobs and invest over ₹1.1 trillion, supported by the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).
The initiative is in response to PM Modi's call to reduce import dependence and strengthen economic resilience.
The industry plans to focus on products like phones, IT hardware enclosures, display and camera modules, and advanced printed circuit boards, with a long-term vision to export domestically made products.
