Vikram-1 Launch Highlights VSEZ's Technological Ecosystem
Skyroot Aerospace, a private company in India, launched Vikram-1, the country's first privately-built rocket to go into space.
This rocket was made in a special area called the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ) in Hyderabad.
The rocket is about seven storeys tall and can carry small satellites.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, unveiled the rocket in November 2025.
This launch shows that India can make advanced technology and supports the idea of making things in India.
The VSEZ helped make this possible by providing a good place for companies to work and grow.
Vikram-1, India's first privately-built orbital launch vehicle, was successfully launched by Skyroot Aerospace.
The manufacturing unit is located in the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park SEZ in Hyderabad, under VSEZ's jurisdiction.
Vikram-1 is designed to carry small satellites weighing up to 350 kg to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
The rocket was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2025 during the inauguration of Skyroot’s Infinity campus.
The launch highlights VSEZ's role in supporting high-technology industries and India's capabilities in advanced technology manufacturing.
