NTPC Expands Thermal and Renewable Capacity by 2027

NTPC, a major electricity company in India, is planning to build more power plants.

By March 2027, they want to add about 4.4 gigawatts of power from traditional 'thermal' sources (like coal) and a much larger amount, 14 gigawatts, from renewable sources (like solar and wind).

For the next year (FY26), they aim to add 2.8 gigawatts of thermal and 6 gigawatts of renewable energy.

They are also spending a lot of money to make these plans happen, with big spending goals for this year and even bigger ones for the future, reaching up to 7 lakh crore rupees by 2032.

As of recently, NTPC's total power generation capacity is over 83 gigawatts.
