Farooq Abdullah’s Threat Claims Ignite Fury Over Kashmir Statehood

Farooq Abdullah said threats against Kashmiri Pandits may be part of a plan to stop Jammu and Kashmir from becoming a state again.

He also blamed the administration led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Abdullah asked why some Hindu government officers were safe while Kashmiri Pandits were receiving threats.

He questioned claims that peace had returned and militancy had ended.

Kashmiri Pandit representatives said this comparison was unfair.

They said government officers have state protection, while many Pandits are displaced from their ancestral homes.

The BJP strongly criticized Abdullah’s comments.

It said he was minimizing the pain and history of Kashmiri Pandits.

The remarks have created a major political dispute.
