UP Revises RTE Admission Rules
The government of Uttar Pradesh has made changes to the rules for admitting children to private schools.
Now, families don't need to show an Aadhaar card for their child to get admitted.
They only need it to get money help from the government.
Schools must reserve 25% of seats for children from poor and disadvantaged families.
The children will get free education up to Class VIII if the school offers early childhood education.
The rules also set age limits for different classes, like nursery, LKG, and Class 1.
This is to make sure all children can go to school easily.
The Uttar Pradesh government has revised the admission process under the RTE Act, removing the mandatory requirement of a child's Aadhaar card for school admissions.
Unaided private schools must reserve 25% of seats for EWS and disadvantaged groups at the entry level, which is either pre-primary classes or Class I.
Aadhaar is now required only for the disbursal of financial assistance under the RTE Act, not for admission.
Age-based eligibility criteria have been specified for different classes, such as nursery, LKG, and Class I.
The guidelines are issued for the academic year 2026–27 to ensure smoother access to education and prevent genuine beneficiaries from being excluded due to documentation issues.
