BMC Reports Improved Water Quality in Mumbai
Imagine Mumbai's water like a big swimming pool, and the BMC is checking it to make sure it's clean.
They take samples every day to look for things that could make people sick.
The good news is that most of the water is safe!
In 2024-25, only a tiny bit of the water wasn't good enough.
Some areas did better, but others had more problems.
The BMC is fixing the issues by finding and fixing where the water gets dirty to help improve the water quality.
BMC reports a maintained unfit water sample percentage of 0.46% for 2024-25.
This is a decrease from 0.99% in 2022-23.
B Ward had the highest unfit water samples at 3.2%, up from 1.0% the previous year.
Approximately 150-180 water samples are collected daily, with increased sampling during emergencies.
