Artists Trace How Memory and Time Remain in Material

Temporal Materialities is an art exhibition about how the past can remain with us.

It brings together six artists who explore memory, change and materials.

One artist remembers a childhood neighbourhood that has been changed by development.

Another looks at cities where buildings are repeatedly built and replaced.

Megha Joshi uses cotton wicks made for Hindu rituals to draw attention to women’s work.

Other artists build up, scrape away or mark their paintings in layers.

Those layers show that removing something does not always make it disappear completely.

The exhibition suggests that memories and traces can remain in places, objects and everyday work.

It is on view until 30 October.
