Chad Powers Showrunner Discusses Finale, Filming, and Season 2
Imagine a TV show about a guy named Russ who pretended to be someone else to coach a football team.
In the last episode, he finally tells one person, Ricky, the truth before a big game.
But, instead of being forgiven, Ricky is mad, and Russ blackmails her to keep his secret.
The show's creator, Michael Waldron, says this was on purpose because he didn't want Russ to get off easy like in some other shows.
He also explained how they filmed a cool scene during a real football game, which was loud and chaotic but exciting.
Waldron hopes the show gets another season and wants to explore Russ's actions more, maybe even visit other famous college football places like Texas or Florida, and maybe even have real coaches or players show up.
Showrunner Michael Waldron discusses the Hulu show 'Chad Powers' finale where Russ attempts reform but resorts to blackmail.
Filming a scene during an actual Georgia football game involved meticulous planning and a short window of opportunity.
The decision was made to end Season 1 before the game's outcome to build anticipation for a potential Season 2.
Waldron aimed to deny Russ easy forgiveness, highlighting Ricky's honest and frustrated reaction to his deception.
Potential Season 2 ideas include filming in Austin, incorporating other blue-blooded college football programs like Alabama and LSU, and featuring real sports figures.
