UP mandates daily newspaper reading in schools
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided that all schools in the state must read newspapers every day.
For 10 minutes during the morning assembly, students will read important news and editorials from both Hindi and English newspapers.
They will also learn new words from the newspapers.
The government hopes this will help students learn more about the world, improve their vocabulary, and think critically.
Schools are also encouraged to have other activities like making their own newspapers, having discussions, and playing word games.
This is part of a bigger plan to get students to read more books and spend less time on phones and social media.
The government has told all school officials to make sure this happens in every school.
