Netflix CEO explains choosing Samay Raina's India's Got Latent
There is a popular comedy show in India called India's Got Latent.
A famous comedian named Samay Raina hosts the show.
It used to be on YouTube, and now it is also on Netflix!
Netflix's boss, Ted Sarandos, said his company chose the show because lots of people already love it.
He said the host, Samay Raina, is very famous in India.
He also said YouTube is a good place to discover new shows, like a big film festival or an open casting call.
The first season ended suddenly because a guest judge said something that made many people upset, and several police complaints were filed.
Later, Samay Raina brought the show back for a second season because he wants to keep having fun.
The new season started on June 20 on both YouTube and Netflix.
Netflix also has special bonus episodes that only YouTube members of Samay's channel can watch.
Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said the platform picked up India's Got Latent because it has a massive built-in audience and a very popular host, Samay Raina.
Sarandos described YouTube as a place to discover things, 'no different than a film festival or film school or an open casting call.'
For the first time in Netflix's history, the same content is available on both Netflix and YouTube.
Season 1 ended abruptly in February last year after guest judge Ranveer Allahbadia's controversial remark triggered outrage and multiple FIRs, and Raina later deleted the episodes.
Season 2 began streaming on YouTube and Netflix on 20 June, with bonus episodes available only to members of Raina's YouTube community.
