Impeachment Process Outlined for Justice Yashwant Varma Case

Impeachment Process Outlined for Justice Yashwant Varma Case

The government wants to remove Justice Varma from his job.

This is because a committee found he had unaccounted cash at his home after a fire.

A panel of judges investigated and recommended the impeachment.

To do this, they need a special vote in Parliament.

First, they need many members of Parliament to agree to even start the process.

If enough agree, a committee investigates, and if they find wrongdoing, Parliament votes again.

If enough people vote yes (two-thirds majority), the President then makes the final decision about removing the judge.
