Bangladesh PM's India Visit Uncertain Amid Hasina Extradition Demand

Bangladesh PM's India Visit Uncertain Amid Hasina Extradition Demand

The leader of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, wants to visit India, the country next door.

The two countries are still trying to pick the dates for his trip, which might happen in late August.

There is a big argument about a woman named Sheikh Hasina.

She used to be the leader of Bangladesh, but she had to leave after big student protests in 2024.

Now she lives in India, and Bangladesh wants her to come back to face the law.

A court in Bangladesh has found her guilty of very serious crimes.

Bangladesh is also worried that she might make political speeches from India that cause trouble at home.

So Bangladesh says a calm and safe situation must exist before its leader visits India.

India says it is still checking Bangladesh's request to send Hasina back, and that it was not involved in her events.

India has invited Bangladesh's leader to two meetings, including a big summit in September, but the argument over Hasina is still in the way.
