India Challenges Pakistan At UN Over 9/11 Safe Havens

India criticized Pakistan during a United Nations Security Council meeting about Afghanistan.

India said important Al-Qaeda members and people involved in the September 11 attacks were found in Pakistani towns and cities.

It said they were not simply hiding in distant caves.

Osama bin Laden was found and killed in Abbottabad in 2011.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was captured in Rawalpindi, while other figures were captured in Karachi or elsewhere in Pakistan.

India said groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed still create security concerns.

It called for the larger networks that help terrorists to be dismantled.

India also asked for more help for Afghans returning to Afghanistan and criticized obstacles to Afghan trade and transit.
