Wipro Reduces Fresher Hiring, Focuses on AI Talent
Wipro, a big IT company, has changed its plan for hiring new graduates.
They now expect to hire between 7,500 and 8,000 graduates this year, which is less than their original plan of 10,000 to 12,000.
This change happened because they didn't hire as many new graduates as they expected in the last three months.
Instead, they are focusing more on finding people who know about artificial intelligence (AI) and other special skills.
They have set up special centers in universities to teach these skills and hire from there.
Even though they hired fewer new graduates recently, they still have more than 5,000 new graduates this year.
They also added a lot of new employees because of some big deals they made.
The company's profit went down a bit, but their total money made went up.
Wipro revised its fresher hiring target for FY26 to 7,500-8,000 graduates, down from 10,000-12,000.
The company added only about 400 freshers in Q3, leading to the revised hiring guidance.
Wipro is focusing on AI-ready talent and has set up 50 Centers of Excellence in universities.
Total employee count rose to 2,42,021, driven by acquisitions and rebadging.
Wipro reported a 7% decline in net profit to Rs 3,119 crore in Q3 FY26, with revenue increasing by 5.5%.
