Bengaluru West Commissioner Urges Faster Dog Sterilization and Cleanliness Drive
The city leader in West Bengaluru wants things to move faster when it comes to helping stray dogs.
They want more dogs to be spayed or neutered to help control their numbers.
They also want everyone to clean up their neighborhoods better.
This is to make sure the dogs are healthy and that people don't get sick from them.
The city already has places to help the dogs, but the leader wants them to work even quicker and follow all the important rules.
They also want people to consider adopting dogs that need homes and to know where it's okay to feed the strays.
Plus, they are making sure there are enough shots to protect people from rabies.
Bengaluru West Commissioner Dr. K. V. Rajendra ordered acceleration of street dog sterilization and a cleanliness drive.
The directive comes amid a review of Animal Husbandry Department programs and stray dog management guidelines.
The West Corporation area has an estimated 63,340 community dogs.
Current facilities include two ABC-ARV centers with a capacity of 171 kennels, having performed over 4,000 sterilizations and 27,000 vaccinations.
Key measures include simplifying regulations for service providers, promoting dog adoption, identifying feeding spots, and public awareness campaigns.
