New UPI Rule: Real Bank Names to Appear in Transactions
Imagine you're sending money using your phone.
Right now, you might see a nickname for the person you're paying.
Starting June 30, 2025, you'll see their real name, the one they registered with their bank.
This is to stop bad guys from tricking you with fake names.
Now, before you send money, you'll know for sure it's going to the right person.
If the name looks wrong, don't send the money!
This helps make sending money safer by stopping scams and making sure you don't accidentally pay the wrong person.
NPCI is implementing a new UPI rule to combat fraud.
The rule mandates display of recipient's bank-registered name.
This change applies to both P2P and P2M UPI transactions.
The new system aims to prevent scams and improve payment security.
Users should verify the name before completing a transaction.
