HC Dismisses Amritpal Singh's Parole Plea
Amritpal Singh, a member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib, asked the Punjab and Haryana High Court for permission to leave jail temporarily so he could go to Parliament.
The court said no because the Parliament session was already over by the time they heard his request.
The judges also said it would take too long to bring him from his jail in Assam to Delhi, even by helicopter.
So, his request was not granted.
Amritpal Singh sought temporary parole to attend the Winter Session of Parliament.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed his plea as 'infructuous'.
The court noted the Parliament session had already concluded on December 18.
Transporting Singh from Dibrugarh Central Jail to Delhi would take at least 10 hours by helicopter.
The court questioned the practicability of granting any relief at such a late stage.
