Hyderabad Shooter Develops Wearable to Help Prevent Athletes’ Injuries

Homanshika Reddy is a 21-year-old shooter from Hyderabad.

She is building a wearable device called Somatrace.

The device uses sensors to watch how an athlete’s spine moves.

It can show movement and posture during training.

The idea was first made for people who shoot rifles.

Athletes and coaches could use the information to notice movement patterns linked to injuries.

Homanshika was inspired after experiencing an injury herself and seeing a friend leave sport because of one.

Her project was selected among the Top 20 in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026.
