Sri Lanka Add Uncapped Mishara, Arachchige For Colombo Test
Sri Lanka is choosing its team for the second cricket Test against India.
The match will be played in Colombo on August 23.
India won the first match by 165 runs, so Sri Lanka must win to tie the series.
Sri Lanka added two players who have not played a Test before, Kamil Mishara and Sahan Arachchige.
Arachchige scored many runs for Sri Lanka A against India A. Mishara has also been scoring well in domestic cricket.
Three experienced batters are expected to miss the match because of injuries or a concussion.
The reports disagree about whether Pasindu Sooriyabandara is still in the squad.
India’s Manav Suthar and Devdutt Padikkal were important in the first-Test victory.
Sri Lanka added uncapped batter Kamil Mishara and all-rounder Sahan Arachchige to its 14-member squad for the second Test against India.
The Colombo Test begins on August 23, with Sri Lanka needing a win to level the two-match series after losing in Galle by 165 runs.
Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal and Pathum Nissanka are reported ruled out because of hamstring, concussion and wrist-surgery issues.
Arachchige earned selection after leading Sri Lanka A’s scoring against India A, while Mishara impressed in domestic and Lanka Premier League cricket.
Reports differ on Pasindu Sooriyabandara’s status: one says he was replaced, while another includes him in the announced squad.
