JERC Issues Show-Cause Notice Over Delayed Meter Rental Refunds
Imagine you were charged extra money for your electricity meter, and then a judge said you should get that money back.
Well, the people in charge of electricity in Chandigarh haven't given the money back yet, even though they were told to.
Now, the bosses of the electricity system are giving them a warning, saying they have two weeks to explain why they haven't given the money back.
If they don't respond, they could face serious trouble, like being punished by the law.
JERC issued a show-cause notice to CPDL and CED for delayed refunds.
The notice follows the failure to implement orders for meter rental refunds.
The refunds were ordered after the Electricity Ombudsman upheld the CGRF decision.
JERC's notice warns of proceedings under Section 142 of the Electricity Act.
CPDL and CED have two weeks to respond to the notice.
