Minister Highlights Jan-Dhan Yojana’s 12-Year Financial Inclusion Journey
The Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana helps people open bank accounts and use formal banking services.
Annpurna Devi said the program has completed 12 years.
More than 59 crore accounts have been opened.
Many of these accounts belong to women and families living in villages and small towns.
People have deposited more than Rs 3.1 lakh crore in these accounts.
The government says Rs 53 lakh crore has been sent directly to beneficiaries through the JAM system.
The Minister also discussed programs that protect and support women.
One such program, One Stop Centres, helps women facing violence or distress.
Annpurna Devi marked 12 years of the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, calling it a path from financial inclusion to economic empowerment.
More than 59 crore Jan-Dhan accounts have been opened, with 56% belonging to women and 78% located in villages and small towns.
Deposits in Jan-Dhan accounts have exceeded Rs 3.1 lakh crore, while Rs 53 lakh crore has been transferred through the JAM trinity.
The Minister reviewed Mission Shakti programs, including One Stop Centres, PMMVY and SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women, in Kolkata.
A total of 1,033 One Stop Centres have been approved, with 991 functional and assisting more than 15.20 lakh women.
