Two Assam residents granted citizenship under CAA
Two people from Bangladesh, a 40-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man, have been given Indian citizenship under a special law called the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
This law helps certain people who came to India from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to become Indian citizens more quickly.

The man came to India when he was 11 years old.
This is the first time a woman has been given citizenship under this law in Assam.
The law has been controversial, with some people worrying it might cause problems for Indian Muslims.
