Honduras Election Recount Paralyzed Amid Protests
In Honduras, there was a presidential election on November 30.
The person who seems to have won is Nasry Asfura, but there are some problems.
Some people think there might have been cheating, so they want to count all the votes again.
But other people say that's not necessary.
Now, there are protests, and the people who are supposed to count the votes can't do their job because of the protests.
The final result is supposed to be announced by December 30, but because of all this, it's not clear who will win.
A special manual recount of votes in Honduras' presidential election is delayed due to protests.
Nasry Asfura of the National Party is currently leading with a margin of 43,000 votes over Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party.
Protesters from the LIBRE party are blocking the building where electoral staff work, preventing the recount from starting.
The LIBRE party and Nasralla are demanding a full recount, claiming fraud without presenting evidence.
The CNE has until December 30 to declare the winner, who will take office in January for the 2026-2030 term.
