Gavit Breaks Commonwealth 100m T47 Record in Glasgow

A boy named Dilip Gavit from a tiny village in India grew up without electricity and lost an arm when he fell from a mango tree.

He learned to run barefoot on dirt roads and was spotted by a teacher who helped him train.

In 2026, he ran the 100‑meter sprint for people with one arm at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and finished in 10.71 seconds, breaking the old record.

He won a gold medal, which made him very popular and helped bring more money and attention to para‑athletes in India.

His success also made big shoe companies want to design special shoes for runners like him.
