Delhi H1N1 Cases Reach 2,612 as Hospitals Heighten Preparedness

Delhi found 166 new H1N1 infections in one day.

This raised the city’s total H1N1 cases to 2,612.

The total number of Influenza-A cases also rose to 3,300.

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh checked whether hospitals were ready for more patients.

Hospitals must keep isolation beds, testing supplies, medicines and medical staff available.

Indira Gandhi Hospital has opened a special flu clinic and isolated beds.

A doctor said H1N1 is now the main flu strain circulating in Delhi and advised testing for serious or lasting symptoms.

The Indian Council of Medical Research said seasonal flu strains already in circulation are causing the rise, so people should take precautions but not panic.
