Goa Among States Failing to Report River Pollution
Imagine some of Goa's rivers aren't as clean as they should be!
The NGT, a special environment court, asked the state to report on how they're cleaning up polluted rivers, especially sewage.
They wanted to know if Goa is treating all its sewage, but Goa, along with others, hasn't sent in its report yet.
The NGT found some of the rivers polluted and is now checking in again.
Even though some rivers are okay now, pollution from sewage remains a concern.
The NGT wants Goa to improve its rivers.
Goa is among 10 states that haven't submitted a report on river pollution to the NGT.
The NGT is seeking information on compliance with sewage treatment directives.
The tribunal's directives, issued in 2020, mandated sewage treatment facilities.
Several rivers in Goa, including stretches of the Sal and Mandovi, were found polluted.
The NGT will next hear the matter on September 22.
