Warangal Power Demand Jumps as Farmers Report Supply Interruptions

Electricity use in the former Warangal district was much higher on October 3 than on the same day last year.

The power company recorded 99.45 million units, an increase of about 70 percent.

It said hotter weather, the El Niño effect, and greater use by homes, businesses, and farms contributed to the rise.

Farmers said they were no longer getting farm power at night.

They also said daytime power sometimes stopped for hours.

Farmers from four villages protested and asked for steady three-phase electricity for their farm motors.

The company said it was supplying power according to a schedule and was preparing upgrades for summer.

It also said it had already reached 100 MW of solar generation and was working to add another 300 MW.
