Uttarakhand Waqf Board Plans Homes for Destitute Muslim Women

Uttarakhand Waqf Board Plans Homes for Destitute Muslim Women

The Uttarakhand Waqf Board wants to give free homes to some homeless women.

The plan is aimed at Muslim women affected by triple talaq and nikah halala.

It would also help other destitute women in the community.

Board Chairman Shadab Shams said the plan will be discussed next month.

The board owns land in districts across Uttarakhand.

Officials want to use some of that land for homes.

They say illegal encroachments may first have to be removed.

The plan is meant to help women rebuild their lives, but it is still only a proposal.
