Delhi Police Bans Kite Flying at Independence Day 2026 Venues

India celebrates its Independence Day on August 15 every year.

This year, big celebrations will happen in Delhi, especially at the Red Fort.

The police worry that kites, drones and balloons in the sky could be dangerous.

A falling kite string could hurt people walking or driving below.

Drones could also fly into places where they are not allowed.

So the police made a rule: no kite flying or other flying objects near the celebration areas.

The rule started on August 11 and will last until August 16.

People who break the rule could get in trouble with the police.

Police officers have been told to make sure everyone follows the rule.

The power companies also warned that special kite strings called manjha can be dangerous near electric wires.
