Sagar Canal Breach Sends Irrigation Water Into Fields
A canal near Nagarjuna Sagar has broken.
Water meant for farms is escaping through the damaged section.
The water is flowing across fields and toward a nearby tank.
Farmers are worried that their land could be affected.
They say the canal became weak because it was not lined.
They also say officials did not act quickly enough.
Farmers want the hole closed and the canal repaired soon.
They want stronger canal walls and lining to help prevent another breach.
A major breach developed in the Sagar Left Canal near the Rajavaram Major Canal.
Large quantities of irrigation water are flowing through agricultural fields and into a downstream tank.
Farmers alleged that Irrigation Department officials failed to respond quickly to the breach.
