Government Initiatives Lift Junior College Admissions in Tirupati District
More students are joining government junior colleges in Tirupati district.
Admissions rose from 2,642 to 2,910 students in one year.
Officials say free meals make it easier for students to stay at college during lunchtime.
Students also receive free textbooks, notebooks and records.
Some average-performing students get SANKALP study material and extra study hours.
Classrooms have received interactive flat panel boards.
These changes are intended to improve teaching and exam results.
A lecturers’ association representative said better attendance and pass percentages may also be attracting students.

Government junior college admissions rose from 2,642 to 2,910 in Tirupati district between 2025-26 and 2026-27.
Overall admissions across the district’s listed junior-college and other institutions increased from 4,942 to 5,442.
Free meals have been provided since January 2025 under the Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meals Scheme.
Students receive free textbooks, notebooks, records and SANKALP study material with remedial support.
