Florida Man Set for Execution as Tennessee Woman Awaits Death

Florida Man Set for Execution as Tennessee Woman Awaits Death

Curtis Wilkie Beasley is a 77-year-old man scheduled to be executed in Florida.

He was convicted of killing Carolyn Monfort with a hammer in 1995.

Police found Monfort’s body in her home after her daughter could not reach her.

Beasley was later arrested in Alabama while using a fake name.

His lawyers argued that his age and cognitive decline should prevent the execution.

The Florida Supreme Court rejected that argument, although a final appeal is still pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Tennessee also plans to execute Christa Pike this week for killing a classmate.

If carried out, Pike’s execution would be Tennessee’s first execution of a woman in 200 years.
