Cyberabad Explores Sponge Systems to Reduce Rainwater Waterlogging

Cyberabad is looking for new ways to stop roads from flooding after heavy rain.

The city corporation is studying systems called EcoBlock and sponge systems.

These systems are placed underground beneath roads, parks or open spaces.

They can hold rainwater for a while and help clean it.

The water can then soak into the ground and refill groundwater.

Recent rain caused flooding at 56 places in the corporation area.

Officials will study which locations are suitable for the systems.

They hope to finish the work before the next monsoon.
