CPI Says DMK Seat Deal Does Not Cover Corruption Claims

CPI Says DMK Seat Deal Does Not Cover Corruption Claims

M. Veerapandian is a leader of the Communist Party of India, or CPI.

He said the CPI made only a seat-sharing arrangement with the DMK.

He said this does not make the CPI responsible for alleged corruption in the DMK government.

The CPI is supporting the TVK government from outside, not joining its alliance.

Veerapandian said the CPI does not currently want to bring down that government.

He said the party would protest if the government stopped supporting workers or secularism.

He also said the CPI could reconsider its support if the TVK moved toward the Union BJP government.

His comments came after Aadhav Arjuna questioned the Left parties’ silence on allegations against the DMK.
