Indore Maternity Hospital Overcrowding Leaves Patients Sharing Beds

Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital in Indore is very crowded.

Some maternity-ward patients reportedly have to share one bed.

In some cases, three patients share a bed.

Other patients may have to sleep on the floor.

Babies and family members make the wards even more crowded.

A report also found dirty areas, overflowing drains and toilets in poor condition.

The hospital grew from about 65 beds to nearly 400 beds.

However, its drainage and other basic facilities did not grow enough to serve so many people.
