Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Talks Focus on Ending Hostilities
Lebanon and Israel had a meeting to talk about stopping the fighting.
Lebanon wants Israel to stop attacking its land, bring back people who were taken, leave the areas it occupies, and solve some border problems.
Israel wants to talk about working together on the economy.
The meeting is part of a bigger plan to keep the peace, and Lebanon is also talking to the United Nations about getting help for its army after a peacekeeping group leaves in 2026.
Both sides seem to want to find a way to stop the fighting and work together better.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that ceasefire talks with Israel aim to stop Israeli hostilities on Lebanese territory.
Israel's representative was sent to Lebanon to discuss potential economic cooperation.
Lebanon's goals include securing the return of captives, scheduling the withdrawal from occupied areas, and resolving disputed points along the Blue Line.
Aoun welcomed any country willing to support the Lebanese army after the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission withdraws at the end of 2026.
Several states have expressed interest in supporting the Lebanese army post-UNIFIL.
