Manipur President’s Rule Extended, Amidst MLA Opposition
The government plans to keep President's Rule in Manipur for another six months.
This means the state will continue to be run directly by the central government instead of an elected local government.
This decision comes even though some local politicians want the state to have its own government again.
President's Rule started after the former leader of the state stepped down.
There have been calls to restore the local government, but the plan is to extend President's Rule.
Even after a long period of conflict, the government has not made any progress to bring different groups to the table.
There is a push to get people displaced by the conflict back home.
