20-Year-Old Recycles 450 Tonnes, Empowers Waste Pickers
A 20-year-old named Karan Kumar started a company called Finobadi to help waste pickers in Delhi.
Waste pickers are people who collect and sell recyclable materials, but they often don't earn much and aren't treated well.
Karan saw this problem and decided to do something about it.
His company, Finobadi, collects waste from people's homes, sorts it carefully, and sells it to recyclers.
The waste pickers who work with Finobadi get a fair share of the money, and for every 100 kilograms of waste they recycle, Finobadi plants a tree.
This helps the waste pickers earn a steady income and feel respected.
So far, Finobadi has recycled 450 tonnes of waste, planted 3,318 trees, and helped more than 70 waste pickers and their families.
Karan wants to expand Finobadi to more cities and help even more waste pickers in the future.
Finobadi, founded by 20-year-old Karan Kumar, recycles waste and empowers waste pickers in Delhi.
The company has processed 450 metric tonnes of waste and planted 3,318 trees since 2023.
Finobadi provides stable income, digital weighing, and transparent earnings for 70 waste pickers.
The startup generated Rs 50 lakh in revenue in 2024 and is expanding to Noida, Gurgaon, and Samastipur.
Finobadi's model includes tree plantation, digital weighing, waste sorting by trained women, and selling to certified recyclers.
