A journalist named Nikhil Sukre was allegedly assaulted during a protest in Pune.

A court sent Panchange to judicial custody for 14 days after his one day of police custody ended.

Police have charged the case under sections of India’s criminal law.

They have also applied a Maharashtra law that protects media workers from violence while doing their jobs.
