Kangra Artist Restores Golden Temple Fresco
A special painting of Guru Gobind Singh inside the Golden Temple is being fixed by an artist named Balbinder Kumar.
This painting was made a long time ago, around 200 years, by an artist from Kangra, a place in Himachal Pradesh.
Now, another artist from the same place is fixing it.
Balbinder Kumar is very careful to use the same old methods and colors to make the painting look new again.
He is doing this work not for money but because he feels lucky to be chosen for this task.
He even decided to keep his hair unshorn as a sign of respect.
The painting shows Guru Gobind Singh on a horse with his followers.
It's a very old and important painting, and Balbinder Kumar is making sure it stays beautiful for many more years.
Balbinder Kumar, a Kangra artist, is restoring a 200-year-old Guru Gobind Singh fresco in the Golden Temple.
The original painting was commissioned by Maharaja Ranjit Singh from a Kangra artist in the 19th century.
Kumar is using traditional fresco secco techniques and natural pigments for the restoration.
